Welcome to Oxnard Canoe and Kayak
History
Oxnard Canoe and Kayak was started in April 2009 by Mike Davis and Stephanie Huhn. Mike (Head Coach) and Stephanie (Woman's Coach) each have 20 years of paddling experience, including coaching, and want to share their enthusiasm for the sport with new paddlers.
During the first season, the newly formed men's team participated in every SCORA (Southern California Outrigger Canoe Racing Association) race. The second season, Oxnard Canoe and Kayak put a winning novice woman's crew on the water, along with two men's crews. Also during the second season, 2010, OCK sponsored the First Annual Anacapa Classic - a 32-mile, 12-man relay race to Anacapa Island and back. Quite an accomplishment for a new club!
The club continues to grow with a strong spirit of family and hard work. We welcome men, women and kids (12 and over) who like the water and are interested in competing.
